16 Aug 09:   Develo...uh, what now?

Okay! So I think it's time to start the very first project. Mmmmm....what to do........
Well, I guess it will behoove us to have a good "experimenting" platform to work on. So what to do? Buy a development board? No way! We'll build one.
Let's think of some of the features we want:
  • Ability to add a GLCD later
  • a lot of headers for I/O
  • A USB Port? Make it TWO! (you'll see)
  • A few buttons for input
  • A few LEDS for output
  • On-board power supply? Maybe...
  • A 7-seg LCD? Why not
  • A pot for producing adjustable voltage
  • And lets go ahead and throw an accelerometer on there for the heck of it
Anything else you want to see on there? Better e-mail me fast!

Hello and welcome to randombuild.com!

randombuild.com is the place to be if you're in the mood for building something cool. I plan to update this website fairly regularly with new projects and ideas. In the future I'll be adding a forum where troubleshooting and project ideas can be discussed. In the mean time, I'd love to hear your ideas through e-mail.

Some random projects and other stuff I plan on doing:

  • Microcontroller Tutorials (I think with different types)
  • Homemade GPS
  • PID Controlled Balancing Robot
  • GLCD Tutorials
  • Serial Com (such as SPI and I2C) Tutorials
  • Music Synthesizer
  • Touch Screen Projects
  • Wireless Projects
  • Optical Position Encoders (quadrature) Tutorials
  • Capacitive Touch Sensors (I want to check out Microchips new stuff)
  • Persistence Of Vision Projects

These are just a few random ideas. I plan to build whatever sounds fun or is demanded by the visitors of randombuild.com. I also want to experiment with different tech (what makes a better scroll wheel: optical encoder or cap sensor?) I think it would also be fun to have each project build upon the previous project. I'm really hoping to have good involvement from all you visitors and maybe launch some collective projects.

Who is this site aimed at?
Well, I my self am a graduating Electrical Engineer. In my current employment I work with embedded systems and general electronics. I will most likely approach the projects as an engineer. However, I would like these project to be realistic for the average person with no electronics background. This will be my aim. At the same time I'd love to talk the talk with anybody who wants to.

randombuild.com is still under construction. Although it is being updated, it is not yet fully functional.

The randombuild.com mission: To provide cool electronics projects in an easy to understand form that allows participation by people of any skill (aka: "normal people") while maintaining the interest of the engineering and scientific minded (aka: "super nerds")
